Our core expertise is weighing bulk materials
at high speed and at high accuracy.
From the smallest country elevator to many of the
world’s largest export terminals, CompuWeigh systems are at work in
the mainstream of today’s grain industry and other markets. With the
introduction of the industry’s first computerized bulkweighing
system in 1978, CompuWeigh set the standard and continues to
"Lead the Weigh" with cutting edge technology in commodity
management and weighing systems.
Our in-depth experience and long-term commitment to meeting the needs
of this specialized market have kept us at the forefront of product
development. Our bulkweighing systems are in over 80% of export
elevators and our systems are in place in countries around the world.
In 1981, CompuWeigh was the first to introduce a totally enclosed
bulkweighing hopper system, now also a grain industry standard. Our
growth has exploded ever since. In 1988, CompuWeigh's new
process hopper scale offered cost-effective technology to worldwide
markets for low volume applications such as rice, flour, coffee beans
and a variety of other bulk solid materials.
Today, CompuWeigh not only supplies the agribusiness industry, but
also provides a wide variety of computerized weighing systems for a
number of other industries including chemical, plastics,
concrete/asphalt and transportation.

CompuWeigh was formed in 1978 by our current
president, Hal Ecke, with two partners who have since retired.
That's when we introduced the first computerized legal-for-trade
bulkweighing system. Today, CompuWeigh manufactures a complete line of
NTEP approved bulkweighing scales, controllers, and automation
products for agribusiness as well as a variety of industries including
plastics, paper, cement and salt.
Among our "firsts:"
1978 – CompuWeigh introduces the Compudraft
1000, the first computerized legal-for-trade bulkweighing
controller. This revolutionized the bulkweighing industry, replacing
old lever-beam scale systems with load cells and microcomputers.
1981 – CompuWeigh designs and
fabricates the first totally enclosed bulkweighing
hopper system, now a Grain Industry standard.
1985 – CompuWeigh introduces the Compudraft
2000, a no-moving-parts scale controller, which sets the new
standard for accuracy and reliability. More than a thousand grain
elevators and 85% of all U.S. export grain elevators now use the
CD-2000.
1988 – CompuWeigh introduces a new Process
Hopper Scale, with hopper sizes ranging from 2.5 cu ft. - 10
cu ft., offering cost-effective technology to worldwide markets for
low volume (0.5 to 90 TPH) in-process applications. Handles a variety
of bulk materials solid or powdered from grains, flours, beans and
salt to plastics, paper, cement. Complete system is pre-assembled and
tested before shipment. The customer only needs to supply air and AC
power and the system is up and running.
1992 – CompuWeigh introduces the PSC-500
Batching & Bulkweighing Controller, allowing precise control of a
wide range of batching applications in feed mills, concrete plants,
food, and chemical production.
1994 – CompuWeigh introduces GMS,
the world’s first "Windows" based system
allowing total facility control from a single computer. GMS automates
the entire weighing and transaction process for truck
and rail scales and bulkweighing
– receiving, load-out, and bin-to-bin transfer. The GMS modular
design allows grading, blending, reporting, data management, inventory
control, accounting interface, temperature and level monitoring –
all from one or multiple computers running on a network. Add any
module at any time.
1995 – CompuWeigh forms CompuWeigh
Automation to provide facility automation – allowing our
customers to truly enjoy "one stop shopping." CompuWeigh’s
automation capabilities range from providing simple start/stop control
through our scale controllers to fully automated multi-scale
ship/receive or process control. Whether the facility is new or a
retrofit CompuWeigh Automation can provide the necessary technology to
improve your process and to reduce the manpower required to operate
the facility.
1996 – CompuWeigh introduces GMS-3000 – for unprecedented ease in bulkweighing scale control and data
management. The GMS-3000 adds the power and flexibility of Windows
NT to the accuracy and reliability of our time-tested Compudraft
Controllers. This is the only system to offer true "fail
safe" operation. We use an Industrial Computer especially
designed for harsh environments, not an office PC! Our "bullet
proof" weighing system ensures you're running at full speed all
the time. In the event of a problem a simple turn of a key instantly
switches the system into backup mode using the CD-3000
Industrial Controller. You’re instantly back on-line, with zero
downtime, zero revenue loss, and zero unhappy customers.
1997 – CompuWeigh introduces Compu.Server
technology, further improving high-speed multiple scale control
capability. We can now boost your productivity dramatically by
allowing one operator to easily control as many as 8 scales running on
a network.
1998 – CompuWeigh updates GMS-3000
with seven new features – reinventing bulkweighing technology. From
providing systems that mean your weigh hopper is always utilized to
the fullest extent possible with GMS SmartDraft, to filling
rail cars to the optimum level with GMS SmartCar, to giving
our customers the peace of mind that comes with our new GMS SmartTech,
CompuWeigh continues "Leading the Weigh."
